The hot weather in the UAE during the first few days Ramadan has given a tough time for people fasting during the Muslim holy month, local daily Gulf News reported on Monday.
Forecasters have reported temperatures of 50 degrees Celsius and above in the towns of Al Ain, Suwahian and Umm Al Zummol, the report said.
Abu Dhabi witnessed the temperature rising to 47 degrees Celsius, while in Dubai it rose up to 44 degrees Celsius.
The heat wave will continue all over the Arabian peninsula, including the UAE, until the tenth day of Ramadan, Gulf News reported citing forecasters.
Surprisingly, for this time of the year, light to moderate rain has been reported in Al Ain, Liwa and Bu Hamra.
However, the scattered rain only increased the heat as the level of humidity went up, the report said.
