Valencia, June 24 (IANS) Sahara Force India scored its best result of the 2012 Formula One season with Nico Hulkenberg and Paul di Resta finishing fifth and seventh in an exciting European Grand Prix here Sunday.
Ferrari's Fernando Alonso won the 57-lap race in front of his home fans and became the first driver to claim two victories in what has been an unpredictable year. Kimi Raikkonen parked his Lotus in second place ahead of Mercedes' Michael Schumacher, who secured his first podium finish since returning to F1 in 2010.
Hulkenberg and di Resta improved on their eighth and 10th grid position to get 16 valuable points for Force India.
Di Resta was struggling for a grip towards the end after opting for a one-spot strategy. He was running behind his teammate before being outpaced by Mercedes' Nico Rosberg on the last lap.
Similar happened with Hulkenberg, who lost places to Schumacher and Red Bull's Mark Webber.
HRT's Narain Karthikeyan came home 18th.
