Feb 23 (Reuters) - Following are security developments
in Iraq as of 1000 GMT on Thursday.
BAGHDAD - Two car bombs killed at least 10 people and
wounded several in Baghdad's central Karrada district, police
said.
BAGHDAD - A car bomb exploded near a police patrol, killing
two people and wounding seven, including three policemen in
Baghdad's west-central Mansour district, police said.
BAGHDAD - A car bomb exploded near a restaurant killing six
people and wounding 18 in Baghdad's northern Kadhimiya district,
police said.
BAGHDAD - Gunmen in a car opened fire at a police patrol and
killed six policemen in the Wazariya district of Baghdad,
police said.
BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb killed one policeman and wounded
six others in Baghdad's southern Saidiya district, police said.
BAGHDAD - Twin roadside bombs killed two people and wounded
two in a mostly Shi'ite area of Doura district, in southern
Baghdad.
BAGHDAD In another incident in Doura, gunmen killed two
policemen and wounded 12 other people.
BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb killed three and wounded 14 in
Sadr City, in northeastern Baghdad.
BAGHDAD - A gunman hurled a grenade at an Iraqi army
checkpoint on Wednesday, killing one soldier and wounding
another. Soldiers fired back, killing three civilians.
Gunmen killed one policeman and wounded another in Radwaniya
district of southern Baghdad. Iraqi army forces responded by
firing into a crowd, killing three people.
MADAEN - A roadside bomb targeting a police patrol wounded
nine people, five of whom were police, in Madaen, about 30 km
(20 miles) southeast of Baghdad.
MUSSAYAB - A car bomb killed two people and wounded 102 in
the town of Mussayab, about 60 km (40 miles) south of Baghdad,
police said.
HILLA - A car bomb exploded near a parking lot, killing one
person and wounding 13 in Hilla, 100 km (60 miles) south of
Baghdad, police said.
HILLA - A roadside bomb exploded near a police patrol and
wounded two policemen in an area near Hilla, police said.
MAHAWEEL - A policeman was killed when a roadside bomb
detonated as he was trying to defuse it in Mahaweel, 80 km (50
miles) south of Baghdad, police said.
BAQUBA - A car bomb in a market killed three people and
wounded seven in the city of Baquba, 65 km (40 miles) northeast
of Baghdad, police said.
BAQUBA - A roadside bomb exploded near a police patrol,
killing one person and wounding three in the city of Baquba,
police said.
BAQUBA - A bomb placed near a policeman's house killed him
and his brother in an area near Baquba, police said.
BAQUBA - Gunmen attacked a checkpoint manned by security
forces, police said, killing two members of the security forces
and wounding three.
BAQUBA - A string of roadside bombs killed three people and
wounded five in Baquba, police operations of Baquba said.
BAQUBA - Gunmen attacked a family from the Sunni Sahwa
militia, killing the parents and wounding their son in
Hashmiyat, a village near Baquba, police said.
BALAD - A car bomb targeted a police station, killing seven
people and wounding 33 in the town of Balad, 80 km (50 miles)
north of Baghdad, a hospital source said. Three of those killed
were police officers.
TIKRIT - Gunmen dressed in Iraqi army uniforms attacked a
municipal building in southeastern Tikrit, 150 km (95 miles)
north of Baghdad, killing two policemen and wounding three,
police said.
DUJAIL - A car bomb attack killed one person and wounded
four in the town of Dujail, 50 km (30 miles) north of Baghdad,
police said.
BAIJI - A car bomb placed near a court killed three people
and wounded five in the town of Baiji, 180 km (112 miles) north
of Baghdad, a hospital source said. One of those killed was a
police officer.
BALAD RUZ - A car bomb wounded six people in the town of
Balad Ruz, 90 km (55 miles) northeast of Baghdad, police said.
MOSUL - Two car bombs exploded near mobile phone masts in
different districts in the city of Mosul, 390 km (240 miles)
north of Baghdad, police said. There were no casualties.
KIRKUK - Two car bombs exploded in quick succession in
different districts, wounding 20 people, including 15 policemen,
in Kirkuk, 250 km (155 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.
TUZ KHURMATO - A car bomb exploded near the Kurdish
Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) headquarters and wounded four
people in the town of Tuz Khurmato, 170 km (105 miles) north of
Baghdad, police said.
ISKANDARIYA - A bomb placed near a house killed the owner
and wounded two of his relatives in the town of Iskandariya, 40
km (25 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.
