Leading European stock markets fell sharply on Tuesday dragged down by poor US corporate quarterly results with London's FTSE 100 index of top companies closing 1.44 percent lower at 5,797.91 points.
In Frankfurt, the DAX 30 lost 2.11 percent to 7,173.69 points, while in Paris the CAC 40 fell by 2.20 percent to 3,406.50 points.
