European stock index futures signal early gains

PARIS, Aug 21 (Reuters) - European stock index futures rose

early on Tuesday as investors hold onto recent lofty gains,

betting that the European Central Bank will soon start buying

Spanish and Italian bonds to help lower the borrowing costs of

the two indebted countries.

At 0603 GMT, futures for the Euro STOXX 50, for

Germany's DAX and for France's CAC were up

0.2-0.3 percent.
