The Road and Transport Authority of Dubai (RTA) has announced that the Al Sufouh Tram will open to the public in November 2014.
Adnan Al Hammadi, CEO of RTA’s Rail Agency, said yesterday: "Al Sufouh Tram is a very dynamic project that will link Sufouh and JBR area, which now suffers from heavy traffic jams.”
It’s hoped the tram project will help reduce traffic congestion in the area, which is popular with tourists.
Al Hammadi added: "It will link to the Red Line and two stations, providing a wide range of options for commuters."
Al Hammadi also revealed that the project was now back in full swing after some delays.
He said: "Proof to the fact that the work was never stalled is the fact that you can see the completed tram bridge near JBR. Now the project is back on in full swing."
