Dubai police have arrested the ‘most dangerous drug dealer’ in the emirate, local daily 7Days reported on Wednesday.
The 39-year-old Emirati and his accomplice targeted youths and sold them illegal painkillers and dangerous narcotics.
“They didn’t care about what they were doing and were spreading their poisons among society. The main dealer even joined a night school to get closer to young Emiratis to sell them drugs,” the daily quoted the head of the anti-narcotic department at Dubai Police, General Abdul Jalil Mahdi, as saying.
The police made the arrest after observing him allegedly collecting large amounts of pills and then hiding them in different spots.
“We surrounded him. He tried to escape but we finally arrested him after a long chase. He tried hard to resist us,” Mahdi was quoted as saying.
Both men were in possession of heroin. The pair have been referred to Dubai Public Prosecution charged with possessing and supplying drugs, the report said.
“We won’t be easy with anyone trading in drugs. They can’t hide from us and we will continue to take steps to protect our society from such dangers,” Mahdi added.
