DanMerl clinches honors in FTBJ-ICBL 30th Conference opener

DanMerl won a tight three-way battle for Team of the Week honors at the start of the FTBJ-ICBL 30th Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes in Mossadia Plaza here.

After a mere two-week break from the last conference won by Safawa Tech-Build, Friday afternoon leaguers swung back into action in the newly opened five-man team competition.

When the dust settled, DanMerl was on top of the 13-team pack on 43 points. Hidada Ltd. followed on 43 and Pin Slashers on 41. Four points adrift in fourth place were Avengers, who carded 37, while Saudi Diyar Consultants and Sarawat Superstore tallied 33 and 32 points, respectively.

Al Watan Décor missed out on the 30 points mark at 27 with Sky Freight-TFC half a point back on 26.5.

D’ Barkads gathered 21 points followed by Kulisap ni Moe 20, while Cristal Global, Akiera Sato Bowlers and Yanbu Sniper filled the last three spots on 17, 14 and 10.5.

Honors were evenly distributed on the day with veteran bowlers Majid Aslani of Sarawat and Hidada’s Pinky Acato clinching the men’s and ladies Bowler of the Week award.

Aslani shot the high series of 682 on lines of 211, 237 and 2234 and Acato owned the best score of 640 in her division on games of 202, 200 and 187.

DanMerl, a team owned by the husband and wife tandem of Danny and Merlen Pamintuan, returned the first-place points of 13 in the last two games and overall output to make up for a slow start (4 points and 10th place).

Cris Villavelez and Merlen Pamintuan took charge at DanMerl with 647 and 608. Len-len Berina added 513. With two games each on theboar were Randy Mata 215-208, Bonie Garcia 209-180 and Carlos Constantino 149-183.

Rene Martinez and Romy Bunagan hit 591 and 587 in support of Acato at Hidada. Grace Siasoco tossed in 514 to go with 181-203 by Amro Al-Amri and 161 by Nanding Siasoco.

Pin Slashers had Rolly Vistal and May Lourdes at the helm on 596 and 581. Aleen Miralbuna added 549, Roger Daquioag submitted 197-202, Ric Reformado came through with 197-202 and Daniel Loquias chipped in 189.

For Avengers it was Tess Marasian that had the top score of 623 that went with the 581 by Fred Monson, 578 by Sammy Ocampo, 537 by Jun Palacios, 158-169 by Myrna Diaz and 179 by Margie Villasanta.

Nap Patayan was the main man at Saudi Diyar with 639. Raul de los Reyes contributed 571, Susan Patayan 549, Fatima Jintarat 501, Priz Calidro 166-171 and Nestor Casalma 169.
