Crossdresser sentenced to jail by Dubai court

A man has been jailed for three months after being caught wearing women’s clothing and trying to pose as a woman.

Dubai Court of First Instance sentenced the 23-year-old Filipino after finding him guilty and ordered that he be deported after serving his sentence.

The defendant was spotted by a police patrol in Bur Dubai at about 3am one morning in January. He was sat with another person in a parked car and the officers became suspicious when it had not moved for some time.

One of the arresting officers said: "I thought the defendant was a woman. He gave me a woman’s ID but the face was different."

The defendant, who was dressed in female clothing and confessed during investigation that he found the ID in a cab and started using it is nobody knew him when he dressed as a women. The records did not say why he wore female clothing.

He had denied the charges.
