Cristiano Ronaldo shows up his teammates with clap push-ups and dazzling skill

There is nothing ordinary about Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese superstar kicked off the new campaign by netting a brace (surprise, surprise) in Real Madrid's 2-0 win over Spanish rivals Sevilla to lift the UEFA Super Cup.

But it has been his performances in training over the past few days that have really caught the eye.

Firstly, while every other Real player did regular push-ups during a recent training session, Ronaldo opted to do clap push-ups finished off with a scorpion kick up to his feet. Impressive stuff.

The two-time World Player of the Year then joined team-mate Gareth Bale in showboating during a passing 'box' drill.

While Bale masters a lovely lollipop trick, Ronaldo produces a stunning first touch before passing the ball to a team-mate (see video above).

Bale, who also started in Real's win over Sevilla alongside new signings Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez, has also been dominating the headlines after showing off a far more muscular physique in pre-season.

However, the Welshman, who became the most expensive player in history when he joined Real 12 months ago, insists he has done nothing special to hone his new look. No pinky push-ups then?

"I actually haven’t done anything!," said the former Tottenham man when quizzed about his new shape.

"I did a bit of my own training during the summer, a bit of running, conditioning but nothing special.

"Yeah, I’ve worked hard and feel in good shape."

Victory for Real in Tuesday night's Super Cup showpiece keeps them on course for a clean sweep of six trophies this season.

Carlo Ancelotti's men are also eyeing the Spanish Super Cup, La Liga, the Copa del Rey, FIFA Club World Cup and to successfully defend their Champions League crown.

Should Los Blancos lift the European Cup for an 11th time next May they would also become the first team to retain the trophy since the compeition became known as the Champions League in 1992.
