Camel running across busy Dubai road caught on camera

A video of a camel running through traffic on a Dubai road is making the rounds on YouTube and social networks, UAE daily The National reported.

The 29 second video of the unusual sight on the Dubai Marina flyover of Dubai's busy Sheikh Zayed Road was taken by Australian expat, Peter Lee.

“I thought, ‘I’ve got to take a video clip and show my mates and colleagues’,” Lee told The National. “You don’t get to see this every day, especially in Dubai Marina.”

His friend, Christopher Graham, who was in the driver's seat, added: “We thought there had been an accident when all of a sudden we saw this camel going in between cars, which were all trying to get out of its way.”

It was unknown where the camel came from or where it ended up, the report said.

Such sightings are highly uncommon on UAE roads, but there have been incidents of camels wandering onto outer highways in the emirates.
