Bobbi Kristina Brown Autopsy Planned as Police Investigation Is Underway

Bobbi Kristina Brown’s body will undergo an autopsy, while police are looking into the circumstances surrounding her death, authorities said Monday.

“The Roswell Police Department continues its investigation into the circumstances preceding and surrounding the time of the original incident leading to her death,” the medical examiner said in Monday morning’s statement.

In January, Georgia’s Roswell police responded to a 911 after Bobbi Kristina’s live-in partner, Nick Gordon, and a friend found her face down in a bathtub filled with water.

The 22-year-old daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown was placed in a medically induced coma and connected to a ventilator when first hospitalized. She was later transferred to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta and spent her final days at a rehabilitation center before being moved to hospice care.

Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office said in a statement on Monday morning that the time elapsed from when she was found unresponsive in January until her death on Sunday will complicate the reconstruction of what may have happened.

“Interpretation of autopsy findings and other information will also be challenging,” the office said in the statement. “However, an autopsy could be helpful to address questions which may arise about the cause of her unresponsiveness and eventual death.”

In July, Gordon was officially served papers for the $10 million civil suit for allegedly assaulting Bobbi Kristina and transferring funds from her bank account without her permission. The suit also alleges that on the morning Bobbie Kristina was found in her bathtub, she was “embroiled in a loud argument with Defendant at her townhome.”

Bobbi Kristina’s aunt, Leolah Brown, said in a television interview that she believed Gordon had something to do with her niece’s near-drowning, and added that he would be implicated.

“I believe Nick Gordon will be charged with this,” she said. “I hope that he will be charged with this, as well. Soon. I really do.”
