UAE official arrested after YouTube video of road assault emerges

A UAE government official has been arrested after a video of him assaulting another driver was posted on YouTube.

In the video taken by a passerby and which has since been removed, an Emirati man is seen beating an Indian driver following an apparent minor traffic accident.

Dubai Police arrested the driver and referred him to prosecution on Tuesday, Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, deputy chief of Dubai Police was reported as saying in Abu Dhabi newspaper The National.

Al Mazeina said "no one is above the law" and that a case has been raised against the government official for his "inappropriate" behaviour.

The video caused a stir on social networking sites and several users complained to Dubai Police on Twitter.
