UAE government pledges $10 million to Philippines typhoon victims
The UAE government has pledged support worth $10 million to the victims of super typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.
The announcement was in line with a directive of UAE President Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this terrible tragedy and their families,” a government statement said, calling on the international community to step up relief efforts.
The UAE also commended the Philippines government for taking all efforts to help the vitims.

UNICEF is accepting donations to help the estimated 1.7 million children affected by the disaster.“Children urgently need access to safe water, hygiene supplies, food, shelter and a safe environment to recover,” the groups said.

Save the Children will contribute 10% of all funds towards future relief operations.
In Dubai, the Philippines consulate will hold a fund-raising brunch on Friday to help the victims. Tickets are AED 50 per person.
Google has launched a collaborative tool to help identify missing persons.
