Saudi sees massive growth in Twitter users

Saudi Arabia saw a 40% increase in the number of active Twitter users from Q2 to Q4 in 2012, according to a report from GlobalWebIndexOne. The soaring growth was the eighth largest in the world and six places ahead of the UAE, which boasted about a 25% increase in active users of the online social forum.

Globally, the number also grew by 40% for the same time period – that’s an increase of nearly 288 million, meaning that 21% of the world population are active Twitter users.  

LARGEST GROWTH

The largest increase in Twitter users globally was in Hong Kong, where there was nearly 100% growth, closely followed by the US, which saw more than 90%.

Russia, which experienced the third highest growth, was about 30% lower at about 63%.
No other Arab nations featured in the report.
