Police investigate man's death at Dubai's Global Village

An Emirati man was killed in an accident at Dubai's Global Village on Thursday.

The man was killed instantly when a metal bar from the Freij Ferris wheel in the fun fair area fell on his head on Thursday night, Gulf News reported.

Dubai Police have arrested three men in connection with the accident.

The men, who are employed by the company in charge of operating and maintaining the rides, face charges of accidentally causing the man's death.

The case has been transferred to public prosecution, the report said.

Meanwhile, the deceased's body has been handed over to his family for burial, police said.

Park management suspended all amusement rides and festivities to offer condolences to the victim's family.

Officials at Global Village have suspended the ride until further notice.

Describing the incident as "a sad accident," a statement from officials said: "The park’s management assures to provide full support in the investigations of the cause of the accident."
