Five people, including three children, were killed in a deadly car smash on a UAE road, daily newspaper The National reported on Sunday.

The horror smash happened on Saturday evening in the northern emirate of Sharjah, when a small sedan car carrying a Pakistani family swerved into the opposite lane, hitting an oncoming 4x4. The car split in two killing a woman, 31, two girls aged seven and two and a boy aged four.

The driver of the 4x4, an Emirati man, 27, was also killed after his vehicle rolled several times.  The man driving the car was severely injured and was taken to hospital – local press reports have suggested he might have fallen asleep at the wheel as they returned from performing Umrah.
