Apple has announced that the iPhone 5 will be available in the UAE on Friday, December 14, local daily 7Days reported, citing a company statement.
Since the phone launched earlier in October, Apple fans in the UAE have been waiting for the company to announce an official launch date.
Local retailers in the UAE are currently selling a 16 GB iPhone 5 for AED 3,000 ($817) - 4,000 ($1089). The launch is expected to force retailers to slash their prices by around AED 2,000($544).
iPhone 5 is currently available in 47 countries around the world including the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan and the UK.
The device will be available through the Apple Online Store (www.apple.com), Apple’s retail stores and select Apple Authorized Resellers.
