Interview: Cast of The Bold and the Beautiful in the UAE

It has been one of the longest-running series in the Middle East, and now The Bold and The Beautiful is making more history by becoming the world’s first daytime drama to shoot episodes in the UAE.

Cast members Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Logan), Don Diamont (Dollar Bill Spencer), Thorsten Kaye (Ridge Forrester), along with executive producer and head writer, Bradley P. Bell are going to be at various locations in Dubai and Abu Dhabi over the next few days.

So why the UAE?

It all started when fitness fanatic Katherine decided to sign up for the Abu Dhabi International Triathlon, which took place on Yas Island last weekend.

Sensing a great opportunity for the show, Bradley suggested that they scout locations in the region to film an exciting storyline.

“I've been fascinated with Dubai and Abu Dhabi for quite some time because of their spectacular skylines rising up out of the desert on the Persian Gulf and the fantastic convergence of diverse international cultures,” he said. “In our story, Dollar whisks his fiancée, Brooke off to the Emirates to marry her at this new crossroads of the world.

“But possessive ex-husband Ridge follows them to impose his will on this romantic, stunt-filled action-packed adventure.”

Scenes will be filmed at the following locations in Dubai: Atlantis, The Palm Jumeirah; Burj Khalifa; the Dubai Mall promenade and Skydive Dubai. Locations in Abu Dhabi will include Emirates Palace, as well as the Corniche, and Yas Marina Circuit.

During the three days of filming, Abu Dhabi-based film and television services company twofour54 will provide The Bold and the Beautiful with production services and 15-20 local crew.

Parts of eight episodes filmed this week in the UAE will air in the United States this year from May 23 through June 6, while audiences across the Middle East will be able to watch them on Dubai One a year later in 2015.
