UAE cops have arrested a man posing as a beggar, only to find he had AED 30,000 ($
8,167.69) in his pocket, UAE daily The National reported on Monday.
The 40-year-old Pakistani beggar was caught while knocking on doors in a residential area in Sharjah to beg for more money.
"He told police that he had lost his job and his residency visa had expired," a police spokesman told The National.
"When investigators searched his pockets they found he had Dh30,000 in cash. He testified he had collected all of it during Ramadan," the spokesman added.
Sharjah residents have been urged to report all cases of begging to the police by calling 06-5632222.
