Wearing a school uniform beyond the age of 17-years-old feels odd, if not a little bit cruel. This season, though, designers are turning classroom masters and seem dead set on giving the classroom a chic makeover.
Big names, such as Gucci, Chanel and Prada have brought back the crisp white shirt and Mary-Janes, and we’re lapping it all up.
From modest culottes and mannish coats or pastel skirts and prissy shirts, we just can’t get enough of the geek chic vibes every season and especially this one we’re entering into.
Here are some of our favorite looks straight from the catwalk:

Burgundy and Blue - a commonly dreaded uniform colour combo that meant a lot of us haven’t gone near it since our school days. However, I would have run around the football pitch in PE at lightening speed if these awesome burgundy culottes were at the finishing line.

Trust Alexander Wang to sassy up the school uniform trend. We would not have got away with rolling our school skirt up that much or wearing heels that high. Thank you adulthood and Wang for making a studious inspired outfit look chic, sexy and bringing out the badass rule-breaker we always wanted to be.

When it comes to being suited and booted, Prada killed it. They bought out an array of cute suits in pretty pastel shades and rich tones, like this gorgeous pistachio number. We love the contrasting colour blocking shirts and shoes. See, smart girls can be chic.

Karl Lagerfeld is the king of geek chic. When it comes to structured dressing this fashion house always get full marks. Chanel caused a few classroom whispers with this ensemble. The outfit is a perfect mix of vintage and modern. The stunning detailed shirt and pinstripe skirt coupled with the gold tights and brogues creates a perfect futuristic geek chic look.

Oral Kiely went one-step further when she staged her AW15 presentation in a library. The setting complemented the schoolroom inspired clothes perfectly. I never thought I would be wearing a pinafore again but Kiely has us all lusting for overalls.

Victoria Beckham always kills it when it comes to tailoring so it’s no wonder this little white number is impeccable! The mixture of textures keeps it current and, just like Victoria Beckham herself, effortlessly cool.

Gucci’s Spring/ Summer 2016 looked like it could have walked straight out of a Wes Anderson film and we could not have loved it any more. Girls in glasses stormed the runway. A mixture of quirky details including embroidered jackets, big bows and specs made us all want to look like an eccentric nerd.

This understated graceful look is the ultimate back to school inspiration. From the oversized mannish coast, pink pastel hues and finished off with a retro pair of glasses. It exudes simple perfection.

Who said all grey everythaang had to be boring? The risqué bareness under the blazer mixed with the oversized trousers creates an elegant androgynous look. And lets all take a minute to appreciate the fur detail bag.
