Al-Futtaim Motors, the retailer of Toyota in Dubai, has recalled more than 8,000 vehicles in the UAE to repair a potentially faulty fuel hose, local website arabianbusiness.com reported on Thursday.
According to the retailer, the repair for 7,298 units of the 2012 Camry and 319 units of the 2012 Aurion will start on August 12. The cars will undergo a 45-minute inspection, but only a small numbers are likely to require replacement components.
“Toyota Motor Corporation has informed us that there is a possibility that the fuel hose that connects the main fuel supply line to the engine may have become wrinkled during connector insertion, and in rare cases could result in abnormal wear of the fuel hose,” the website quoted Simon Frith, managing director of Al-Futtaim Motors as saying.
“In the interests of delivering the highest standards of Toyota product quality and customer care, we will commence a service campaign from Sunday, August 12 and contact our customers directly for an appointment at our service centres,” he added.
The statement comes several days after Saudi Arabia’s Abdul Latif Jameel Company announced it would recall all Camry and Aurion models produced between October 2011 and July 2012 for inspection.
Toyota, Asia’s biggest carmaker, has been forced to recall some 19 million vehicles worldwide due to quality and safety problems since 2009, the report said.
