Of all the supermodels that have graced our runways, Jourdan Dunn has to be one of the nicest and most down to earth models out there and this leggy lady is certainly no one trick pony.

The London, Greenford born beauty is celebrating turning 25 today, so we thought we would share with you the many different sides of Jourdan Dunn and why she’s just so awesome.

1. The Trail-blazer

In 2008, Dunn became the first black model to walk the Prada catwalk in ten years since Naomi Campbell and in 2014, Forbes listed Dunn among their top-earning models. With an estimated earning of 4 million in a year, she was the first black super model to make the list.Jourdan isn’t afraid to speak her mind about discrimination in the fashion industry and often uses her social media accounts to document her feelings.

She wrote back in 2013 after being axed from a Dior show because of her 32a boob size ‘I’m normally told I’m cancelled because I’m ‘coloured’ so being cancelled because of my boobs is a minor : )’ - @missjourdandun

2. The Mother

Back in 2009, prior to a family holiday in Jamaica, the model found out she was pregnant with her son, Riley. At 18 years old and working as a full time model it came as quite the shock. But she was determined to make it work and often speaks about juggling working full time with being a single parent. Fortunately, the modelling world has been extremely accommodating, with Jean-Paul Gaultier famously making her a special pregnancy outfit just so she could walk his catwalk.

The model shows no signs of slowing down yet; since welcoming Riley to the world she’s also appeared at the Olympic Games Closing Ceremony alongside Kate Moss, been a cover star for Vogue Italia and fronted campaigns for the likes of Yves Saint Laurent, Burberry and Tommy Hilfiger

3. The Super-Mogul

Jourdan has also recently shown off her creative side and is collaborating with HTC and tattoo artist Cally-Jo Pothecary to create a unique body-art design for their One M9 handset. And she’s not just stopping there, Dunn is also producing her own child’s clothing range - with the goal to produce designer style at accessible prices. Dunn has been quoted saying “I love kid’s clothes and have been obsessed with them ever since my son was born. Through my career in fashion I have come to love and respect great design, and as a mum I also expect great quality and value for money, as well as the coolest clothes for my son Riley.”

4. The Campaigner

Sadly, Jourdan’s now 5-year-old son Riley was born with sickle-cell anaemia, an inherited, noncontagious blood disorder most common in people of Afro-Caribbean or African descent. The disorder leaves sufferers with a shorter life expectancy and periods of sickle-cell crisis that last a few days and require hospitalisation.

She said: ‘It’s something people don’t really know about, due to the fact it’s genetic, so it doesn’t have the high profile of HIV or malaria, Riley looks just like a normal boy, but I can’t get away from the fact he has a serious disease.’
Jourdan uses her status to help raise more support for the Sickle Cell Society. She is also an ambassador for the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America. For her first campaign last year, Cell for a Cure, she designed a necklace representing a blood cell, with all proceeds donated to the SCDAA.

5. #SquadGoals

You wont ever find Jourdan in a Twitter spat, the busy Miss Dunn doesn’t have time for bitchiness or backstabbing. Instead, you’ll find her cosying up to many of the models of the moment, including Cara Delevingne, who she calls her ‘crazy little sister’ and Karlie Kloss who is godmother to her son.

And let’s not forget, this 5′11 babe even rubbed shoulders with Queen Bee, Beyoncé herself, when she danced in her music video for ‘Yonce’.

6. The Foodie

Dunn is famously a girl who loves to eat, you wont find her doing any crazy diet plans. She was even seen dashing into Nando’s last fashion week! Jourdan currently hosts her own cooking show entitled, “Well Dunn”, on Jay Z’s Life+Times YouTube channel.

She’s even featured other supermodels on it as her sous chefs; Karlie Kloss, Chanel Iman, Cara Delevingne and Joan Smalls among others.

7. The Style Icon

This well-heeled lady sure knows how to rock a floor length dress, she loves to keep things interesting and mixes it up every-time she hits the red carpet; from risky cut low cut dresses - like the one pictured that she wore to the Elle Style Awards in February, styled with gorgeous Messika Joaillerie jewels, to the bold custom yellow dresses that she wore the Met ball.

And as for her street style, Jourdan loves to wear a cute mix of street-wear, sporty separates and sassy heels, she’s most often seen sporting edgy kitsch pieces from the celebrity favourite brand Moschino.

But what we love about her the most is shes not afraid to slum it like the rest of us and admits that her favourite look is when she’s the most comfortable and wearing jogging bottoms and a slouchy t-shirt.

See We’re not that different after all, well minus the extra ft of leg…
